Packaging solutions throughout the whole process
Packaging can often be decisive when it comes to a product’s success. This is why Mellerud Plast often works closely with the customer throughout the entire product development phase and balances the customer’s, the user’s and the market’s requirements and expectations with the actual nature of the contents.
For a product to be successful, it takes more than good contents. It also needs good packaging. Mellerud Plast maintains close collaboration with customers all the way and can be there throughout the entire product development process. From concept and design to finished project.
EasyColour is one of the companies that has turned to Mellerud Plast to get its product into the market. The person behind EasyColour is Cristina Canestrini, whose hair colouring product makes it easier to colour hair with the aid of an applicator. Cristina came from the world of banking and was totally new to the industry. She was looking for a supplier that could give her a high profile even though she was a small operator, and could produce a quality product. Cristina asked Emballator Mellerud Plast to develop and supply the bottle, and Kumla Plastprojekt to produce the applicator.
– “Mellerud Plast came into the picture when I had a functional prototype, and they helped me to sketch out the production design and create an attractive shape,” says Cristina Canestrini.
With the aid of Mellerud Plast’s 3D printer, they then produced a prototype to give a sense of the final product’s shape and user-friendliness.
Cristina is very satisfied with the partnership and feels that she has had good service and engagement throughout the whole process.
– “It’s been very easy to work with them, and they’ve shown total engagement and taken on the role of a one-stop supplier. Among other things, they’ve helped me to find business partners and apply for design protection,” she explains.
The product was launched onto the market in February 2016, and it was not long before it was named “Hair Colouring Aid of the Year” in the newspaper Aftonbladet’s “beauty Oscars”, the best technical beauty products of the year 2016.
Environment-friendly water bottles
Yuhme is another operator that came to Mellerud Plast with its business concept of manufacturing environment-friendly water bottles.
– “We wanted to produce environment-friendly water bottles manufactured in Sweden,” explains Alexandra Nash, one of the founders of Yuhme.
Yuhme had no previous experience of production, but feels that working together with Mellerud Plast has been very reassuring, and that they have shown great understanding throughout the whole process.
– “Mellerud Plast has been extremely accommodating and genuine. They’ve helped us in many stages, producing the product and printing patterns. They’ve also shared some of their contacts,” says Alexandra.
Together with Mellerud Plast, they have now produced a unique sports bottle in bioplastic made of sugar cane. They also took printing technology to new heights and created a 360-degree print with a pattern around the whole bottle. The concept has both environmental and social responsibility, as one bottle contributes to six months’ clean water for one person in the Central African Republic.
